Peter has been working remotely for two years, primarily as a senior product manager in the game industry. His day-to-day involves working as a consultant, helping a number of gaming studios and publishers refine their product’s user experience and monetization strategies. He has worked on products by companies including The Pokemon Company, Adult Swim, Al Jazeera, and Facebook.

Before working as a consultant, Peter was a senior product manager at Activision and earlier at Zynga and Wizards of the Coast. The games and brands that have his fingerprints on them include Magic: The Gathering, Peanuts, Downton Abbey, NFL, NBA, Adult Swim, Al Jazeera, and Farmville. He graduated from Harvard University in 2013 with a degree in Economics.

Working Remotely & Traveling

In 2015, Peter was working as a remote employee for Activision, and while his life was good – living in San Francisco in a nice apartment in the Mission district – he realized that he was potentially wasting an opportunity, so he began to explore travel opportunities.

One day, after a Facebook advertisement popped up for Remote Year, he applied to join the second class of remotes. After some soul-searching and a few short weeks, he was in Montevideo, Uruguay, working out of the Sinergia coworking space, the Mission apartment fading deeper and deeper into the background.

His favorite part about the digital nomad lifestyle is the sense of ownership he has over his life. While the responsibilities of “real life” never go away, he feels that the freedom to choose location, work hours, and priorities keeps him motivated to do his best work.
